What you need is a poster that shows amount of land covered by city’s and human development and that percentage of land converge then amount how much energy could be produced if even half of the residential and business buildings had solar panels installed on them or how much of that urban development would require solar panels to double worlds output requirements.
Hi Steven. You might be interested in our more recent graphic that shows the land use of a mix of renewable energy to power a post-fossil fuel global economy. It compares the land use requirements with the areas of cities just as you mention. The conclusion is that we can accomplish a lot of our goals with rooftop and urban energy generation, although we will still require some amount of large scale exurban and rural generation.
