{"id":1362,"date":"2011-04-08T13:04:54","date_gmt":"2011-04-08T09:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/landartgenerator.org\/blagi\/?p=1362"},"modified":"2011-04-08T13:06:04","modified_gmt":"2011-04-08T09:06:04","slug":"zayed-university-supports-lagi-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/landartgenerator.org\/blagi\/archives\/1362","title":{"rendered":"Zayed University Supports LAGI 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/landartgenerator.org\/blagi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/zuheader.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"zuheader\" width=\"500\" height=\"128\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We are very pleased to announce that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zu.ac.ae\/\" target=\"blank\">Zayed University<\/a> has awarded Elizabeth Monoian (Principal and Co-founder of LAGI) the Provost\u2019s Research Fellowship for her work on LAGI.<\/p>\n<p>Sustainable Environment and Infrastructure is one of the strong UAE Government Strategic Directives, and Zayed University has implemented policies to incorporate that objective into University planning and decision-making, be it through curriculum, faculty research support, or through facilities maintenance and community outreach.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Zayed University launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zu.ac.ae\/main\/en\/news\/2010\/February\/environment.aspx\">ZEIN (Zayed Environmental Impact Network)<\/a>, a committee that has facilitated events and programs throughout the university to increase awareness, reduce resource demand, and increase recycling programs.<\/p>\n<p>This academic calendar year, Zayed University launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zu.ac.ae\/main\/en\/colleges\/colleges\/college_arts_science\/RURL\/Introduction.aspx\" target=\"blank\">RURL (Responsible Urbanism Research Lab)<\/a> with Yasmine Abbas at the helm. RURL is Zayed University\u2019s transdisciplinary research platform dedicated to advance knowledge in the field of sustainable urbanism.<br \/>\n<small><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yasmine is a French DPLG architect (Paris Val-de-Marne \u2014 now Paris Val-de-Seine \u2014 1997). At MIT and Harvard, Abbas researched how mobile individuals\u2014neo-nomads\u2014Re:locate, i.e. construct and reclaim a sense of belonging to places through physical, mental and digital means. Abbas has traveled extensively and worked internationally in the fields of art and architecture, consumer research and social sustainability.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Zayed University&#8217;s support of LAGI 2012 will help make possible the implementation of the next biennial international design competition. <\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned to learn more about the exciting design site location for LAGI2012 (which city in the world will it be?) for next year&#8217;s competition.
